A BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE
Then those who feared the LORD spoke to one another, and the LORD listened and heard them; so a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the LORD and who meditate on His name. (Malachi 3:16, NKJV)
Gazing at the actuarial charts, I realized that at age 83 the fact is that my projected life span was short. I've been blessed with a full and frutfiul life, and I also reflected on the wisdom of God in multiple working events in my life for my good and His glory; therefore I prepared and sent out to my family and friends an e-mail book, Mud Pies and Memories.Vol 2. Our journey continues!
As I prepared these devotionals I recall how the children of Israel also prepared a Book of Remembrance. The situation is described in Malachi 3. The prophet chastised Israel for deviation from God’s pattern of marriage and for failure to give God the offerings due Him. After hearing God’s rebuke, those who took God seriously prepared a Book of Remembrance recalling what God had done.
As I look around me in the current social estate of 21st century America, I see many parallels to Malachi’s day with fractured families and greedy givers. This provides me motivation to prepare my own book of memories.
