Memorial Day Weekend
Dear Precious Saints of MBC,
I trust you are doing well and looking forward to this coming Lord's Day.
Each Memorial Day, we remember those who fought steadfastly and sacrificially for our country. My dad fought in World War II, and as a result, he always reminded us of the sacrifice made by others. He along with others saw firsthand those willing to lay down their lives so that each of us could enjoy our freedom. As I've gotten older I've come to appreciate those who served and gave their all. I've walked in Arlington Cemetery in Washington, DC, the cemeteries near Normandy Beach, Hawaii and in the Philippines and have seen the thousands upon thousands of tombstones where the remains of men and women have been laid having died so that we might be free. A while back the local news had a mother who had lost a son in war express concern about us saying, "Have a happy Memorial Day." Those who have lost a loved one cannot remember and be happy. For them, the sacrifice is too painful and costly.
This weekend be sure to recognize and pray for all of our military families. We are by no means a perfect nation, but we remain the envy of the world. This weekend be sure to spend some time reflecting on the blessing of freedom in this great nation and thank God for all that we enjoy, in part because of the sacrifice of so many.
See you on Sunday on line!
I the light of His glory and grace,
