Next Week’s Message: Two Mothers, Two Sons, Two Covenants Galatians 4:21-31

A theme that runs throughout the book of Galatians is the contrast between law and faith – between religious bondage and spiritual freedom.  At the end of chapter 4 Paul is concluding his arguments for freedom in Christ.

To make his point for liberty, Paul mentions Abraham’s two wives – Sarah and Hagar – two sons – Isaac and Ishmael – and two covenants – Mosaic and Abrahamic.  This contrast between slavery to sin and freedom in Christ is among the most difficult in the book of Galatians. Next week we will tackle this topic. It’s going to be challenging, but very rewarding in the end.
