Dear MBC Church family,
On Wednesday, March 11th, the Elders and Deacons met for a joint meeting. At that time, the COVID-19 illness was discussed in broad and general terms. Everyone in attendance expressed a concern for the health, well-being and testimony of our church in our community. In a matter of just 24 hours, much has changed. Early Thursday, March 12th, Utah Governor Herbert announced that public meetings - including church services - should be limited to 100 "healthy" people and those over the age of 60 shouldnot be in attendance. This directive is for the next two weeks beginning March 16. Most churches are complying with this directive and have already begun to implement this policy.
Early Thursday evening I spoke personally with all the Elders and a number of other key church leaders. There was agreement that the health of our church family is of utmost importance and that maintaining a testimony in keeping with the Governor's directive is critical and a top priority for reaching our community.
As a result, our Sunday morning worship services (March 15 & 22) and our Tuesday night AWANA clubs (March 18 & 25) are cancelled.
I know you will likely have additional questions, and we will continue to communicate updates and changes through email, our website, and social media channels. We are planning some creative ways for you and your family to worship on Sundays.
Please keep our nation, state and local leaders, health care professionals and those being adversely impacted by this pandemic in your prayers.
In the light of His glory and grace,
Pastor Douglas Hornok
