An All too Common Sin

An All too Common Sin

Dear Precious Saints of MBC,
I trust you are doing well and looking forward to this coming Lord's Day.
We all know people who are holding onto the hurt and pain in their lives. Maybe we do that too. If we've been nurturing a wound for a while, we may not even know that we have a bitter spirit. Perhaps we have forgotten that we're to forgive others like Jesus forgave us.
Bitterness pollutes our heart. We become cynical and caustic. It's not long before we are experts at scorching people at church, home, and work. Our eyes, tongue, and body language become honed tools.
Our relationships can't survive our sarcastic voice and soon the only one that is happy is Satan. He loves to see us trapped in bitterness. He loves it when we are miserable and burning with hate.
We must avoid bitterness at all costs. Holding onto our pain robs us of a growing relationship with God. How can we do His will when we're loaded down with bitterness, anger, and resentment? How can we love God and others when our heart is crowded with hurt and hate?
We must recognize this as sin and ask for God's forgiveness and help. He will help us forgive those who have hurt us and give us amazing peace and rest

See you Sunday!
In the light of His glory and grace,
Pastor Doug
