A brief history of Midvalley Bible Church
In a lovely late summer morning on September 13, 1953, Rev. John Hornok, having recently moved with his family from Round Lake, Illinois to Salt Lake City, held the first ever service of the Murray Bible Church, which later became Midvalley Bible Church.
John Hornok faithfully served Murray Bible-Midvalley Bible Church for more than two decades, retiring in 1974.
In November 4, 1974 Ken Hornok, a recent Dallas Theological Seminary graduate, and Pastor John’s son, became the Pastor. Under Ken’s excellent Bible teaching and leadership, the church grew and became firmly established in the Salt Lake Valley.
Following 39 years of faithful ministry, Pastor Ken announced his retirement from Midvalley Bible Church. His final service was on August 31, 2013. That summer, Pastor Ken’s younger brother Douglas Hornok and his wife Connie were invited to come and serve as the interim pastor.
Doug’s first service was on Sunday, October 6, 2013. Shortly thereafter it became evident to the leadership and congregation that God had chosen Doug to be the new Pastor for Midvalley Bible Church. On June 22, 2014, the congregation voted to have Doug become the third pastor of Midvalley Bible Church.
Today our church remains a strong, vibrant, healthy and unified church holding to its original roots. Our commitment is to the truths that:
Jesus is our Savior and we want Him to become yours.
The Bible is our only source of authority.
We’d love to have others become part of our growing church family.
